Meet The Team

Sensible Money Guide is a small, independent site with one job: explain money in plain English so you can make your own good decisions.
You won’t find a wall of headshots here. We’re a small team, and we would rather show you exactly how our guides get made than dress the page up. Every article on this site is published under the name Sensible Money Guide Team, because each one goes through the same process, and the process is what you should be able to trust.
Who we are (and who we’re not)
- We are an independent publication. No bank, card company, or investment firm owns us or tells us what to write.
- We are a small team that cares about getting the details right and saying them simply.
- We are not licensed financial advisors, tax preparers, or lawyers. Our guides teach the basics. They are not personal advice for your situation.
How every guide gets made
- Start with a real question. We pick topics that everyday people ask about, like how to build a budget, how credit scores work, or how to pay off a credit card faster.
- Go to the source. Each guide draws on at least ten trusted sources. That means government agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the IRS, the FDIC, and Investor.gov, plus major banks, investment firms, and respected financial publications.
- Write it like a person would say it. We aim for about an 8th-grade reading level, with real dollar examples and clear steps you can take today. We use AI writing tools to help with research and first drafts, and we tell you that up front.
- Check the facts. Before a guide goes live, numbers, limits, and rules are checked against the original source, and we link to those sources so you can check them yourself.
- Keep it current. Money rules change. When contribution limits, tax brackets, or rates change, we update the guide and show the date it was last updated.
What we won’t do
- Tell you which stocks to buy or guess where the market is headed.
- Let a commission decide what we recommend.
- Promise fast riches, guaranteed returns, or credit “tricks.”
- Post yearly limits or rates from memory without checking the official source.
How we stay free
Sensible Money Guide is free to read. Some articles may include affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up for a product through our link, at no extra cost to you. When an article has affiliate links, we say so near the top of the page. You can read more on our About page and in our Terms of Service.
Spot a mistake? Tell us.
We work hard to get things right, but mistakes happen and rules change. If you see something that’s wrong or out of date, please contact us. We read every message and correct confirmed errors.
Our articles are for general education only and are not personal financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. Think about your own situation, and talk with a qualified professional before making big money decisions.
